Picked up a new 2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan the from GearHead Junction in Pearisburg, Virginia the other day.
The first things I did after leaving the shop were adjust the windscreen, add my bag of gear and water to the back, and set up my GPS. I have the GPS wires just zip-tied for now, didn’t want to be wiring it to the battery in the parking lot, haha. Also double checked some bolts just to make sure they were tight.
After getting situated, I did a quick walk around the bike and then headed for some trails. I wanted to take the bike off-road as-is, pre modifications, to see how it did. The stock tires on the Himalayan aren’t the best, but that’s the case for just about any bike. There was quite a bit of spinning in the mud. However, being able to paddle through it, both feet on the ground, was a huge bonus!

Stay Tuned for 2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan Rides & Mods
I definitely plan to do some mods to this bike. I know already I’d like more storage, so I’ll probably order some panniers here soon. I also like to have bark busters on all my bikes if possible, so those are on the list as well. I’ve also seen some smaller mods I’d like to do. A few stickers here and there (the wife can line those up right, she’s good at that stuff). Maybe I’ll get a different windshield later on, depending on how this one does.
I’m excited to do a few modifications here and there, add a little more storage, and of course, keep riding! Stay tuned for more posts and videos as I ride more back roads and trails in and around the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia!
