The Problem: Windshield Rattle
I ride my Royal Enfield Himalayan on some pretty rocky and rough terrain. At certain higher RPMs the vibrations of the bike make the headlight housing rattle against the windshield. This is true for both the stock windshield and the new windshield I installed, and it can be extremely annoying. In my mind, any rattling noise on any vehicle is a warning sign. Something is wrong or at least needs to be checked out. So when my headlight housing was constantly making sounds due to the higher RPMs making the headlight housing vibrate against the windshield, I just had to fix the Himalayan windshield rattle.
The windshield has a gap between it and the headlight housing. When on the trail, I stuffed random soft items I had on hand in and around the gap to try to fix the rattling and vibrating. While that seemed to work alright as a quick fix on the go, it was definitely only a temporary option.
The Fix: Fitting Rubber Tubing in the Gap
I found some rubber tubing laying around the garage. Cut it to fit the length I would need to fill the gap between the windshield of my Himalayan and the headlight housing. Then I added the tubing, which can be seen in the photos.
The Steps to Fix Windshield Rattle
Rubber tubing – I found it laying around the garage. Any rubber tubing that’s got some thickness to it should work.
Cut the rubber tubing to the length of the windshield gap to ensure it will fit properly.
Remove the two screws furthest from the headlight (one on each side), tilt the windwhield back, add the rubber tubing, tilt back forward into place and replace screws.
Himalayan windshield from the front with the rubber tubing now filling in the gap between the windshield and the lightbulb housing. Really helps with the rattling.
Slightly sideways angle so the newly added rubber piece and approximate thickness can be seen.
Side view of the rubber tubing added. It doesn’t make any noise or anything now.

If you’re interested in other modifications I’ve done to my Royal Enfield Himalayan, I’ve got a few. As I continue to mod the bike, I will continue adding information on the installs, mods, and reviews when I can!
