Himalayan Windshield Install

Taller, Slightly Tinted Windshield

Purchased a new windshield for my Royal Enfield Himalayan. I got a slightly tinted, taller windshield. I wanted it to be a bit taller because bugs hit me constantly with the stock one, and way too much wind gets by the stock one, which sometimes turns my head into a real life bobble-head doll, ha. This mod is worth it if you don’t like your current windshield. I did the Himalayan windshield install in no time, it’s only four bolts.

Royal Enfield Himalayan tall windshieldI purchased this Royal Enfield Himalayan tall windshield from Hitchcock’s Motorcycles in the UK, same place I got the panniers. The windshield was £72.50 (plus shipping), which is $89.45 USD, great pricing I think. Hitchcock’s seems to be a great company, I was surprised at the shipping speed with my first purchase, same with this one. Ordered the windshield and a few other things really late at night here on a Tuesday. Everything was at my mailbox at 10pm on the Friday (seriously, faster than Amazon has been lately).

So far, everything has been boxed really well, not showing up with scratches or dents or anything. This windshield is bigger than the one that comes stock on the Royal Enfield Himalayan. As this picture shows, it’s also slightly tinted. I’m not sure if I’ll like the tint. If I don’t like it, I’ll order another one that’s clear and keep this one as an extra just in case I need it for some reason.

Product Details
WINDSHIELD, HIMALAYAN, SIMILAR TO THE STANDARD VERSION BUT APPROX 6cm TALLER AND LIGHT TINT

Extended, tinted windshield to suit the 410 Himalayan. This windshield is similar in shape to the standard fitment windshield, but has been extended to give an extra 6 cm in height (approximately). This helps to prevent wind buffeting which some riders suffer with on the standard setup.

This version comes with a lightly tinted finish to enhance looks and reduce glare. This simply bolts in place of your existing windshield in either position, and utilises the original fixings to mount.

Height Difference

You can see the height difference between the stock windshield and the new one here.. 6cm (about 2.5 inches). That doesn’t seem like a huge difference, but it will really matter when I’m riding. This is especially true at higher speeds on the highway. It’s really annoying when the wind knocks my head around and at night, I can’t wipe the bugs off my helmet fast enough.

Tint Difference

The difference in tint is also something I’m not sure I’ll like. During the day I don’t see it making much of a difference, but as the sun starts setting or at night, I might not like it.

Difference in Thickness

There’s a pretty big difference in the thickness of the windshield between the stock one and the new one. I’m not sure how much of a difference the thickness will make. Really hoping it won’t rattle or anything.

Windshield Install

Removing the old windshield and installing the new one on the Royal Enfield Himalayan is really easy. There are four bolts on each side of the windshield. Remove those, then remove the windshield. Line up the new windshield, put the bolts back in, done!

How it Looks

So the new windshield has been installed and I think it looks great. It should block a lot more wind (and hopefully bugs). Really happy it arrived so fast and is such a quick modification to do. We’re talking under 5 minutes!
